The
Best Trial Results Money Could Buy – Exposing Gov’t Misconduct
The
National Committee to Free the Cuban Five, represented by attorneys
from the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, filed a lawsuit on Sept.
9, 2009, in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against
the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) because it has
"unlawfully failed to disclose specific U.S. government-paid
contracts with journalists" who pumped out prejudicial,
inflammatory and outlandish stories about the Cuban Five and Cuba
before and during the trial, including during the deliberations by the
non-sequestered jury. Earlier, the National Committee to Free the
Cuban Five, under the Freedom of Information Act, submitted a
request to the BBG seeking public disclosure of the BBG's funding of
journalists who published materials about the Cuban Five and Cuba. The
BBG is prohibited by law from funding domestic propaganda and
attempting to influence U.S. opinion, yet has apparently been funding
journalists who place stories in domestic media outlets. Click

Sentenced
to Life in Prison for Exposing Terrorism
Free the Cuban Five billboard, Los Angeles
The
Cuban Five—Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero,
Fernando González and René González—are serving outrageous
sentences ranging from 15 years to double life. They were convicted of
espionage conspiracy, but their real “crime” was trying to prevent
Miami-based terrorist organizations from carrying out murderous
attacks on their homeland—Cuba. They never spied on the United
States or did any harm to people here.
More
than 3,400 Cubans have been killed by U.S.-based terrorist attacks
directed against the island over the past 50 years, and Cuba’s
economy has been damaged to the tune of billions of dollars. The U.S.
government, while preaching to the world about its “war on
terror,” continues to this day to harbor and protect right-wing
Cuban terrorists in this country, who are mainly based in Miami. The
aim of those terrorists, trained and armed by the CIA, has been to
destabilize the Cuban economy and terrorize the population.
The
Cuban Five’s mission was to infiltrate the Miami terrorist groups
and monitor their plots to stop further attacks. Instead of
prosecuting the Miami terrorists, the government arrested the
courageous Cubans—the Cuban Five—on Sept. 12, 1998, and prosecuted
them in a rigged Miami show trial.
Join
the International Days of Protest for the Cuban Five’s Freedom
We
will call for the immediate freedom of the Cuban Five, for the U.S.
government to grant visiting rights to Adriana Pérez, wife of Gerardo
Hernández, and Olga Salanueva, wife of René González, who have been
denied U.S. entry for 12 years, and full disclosure by the
Broadcasting Board of Governors regarding the activities of
government-paid journalists that may have impacted the Cuban Five's
trial.
You

here send a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric
Holder by clicking here, calling on the Justice Department to
immediately remedy the gross violation of the Cuban Five’s
constitutional rights to due process, and free them.
